Zhangjiajie Global Geopark is located in the northwestern part of Hunan Province with a total area of 396 square kilometers. The park consists of more than 3,000 lofty peaks, 1,000 of which exceed 200m in height. Jinbianyan exceeds 350m in height and its unique characteristics include tablelands, plateaus, peak walls, chains and forests of peaks, ancient stone gates, natural bridges, valleys and more. The heart of the geopark is dominated by its sandstone peak forest, unparalleled in the world, set against the backdrop of karst landscape.
