Folding of the 400-415 mya Devonian limestone rocks at Wee Jasper is clearly visible in the valley. Wee Jasper Limestone was laid down in shallow marine waters and is rich in Devonian marine fossils. Above ground, observe the limestone rocks to see abundant examples of weathered fluting known as rillenkarren, caused by rain water falling on the upper edge of a rock and dribbling down the side dissolving the rock and leaving a series of grooves. Located just north of Wee Jasper village, the area's bestknown cave is Careys Cave with its seven decorated chambers.
